Workshop description.

The Scrum master workshop is an optional 1 day training module to add on top of the Scrum training, unlike the Scrum training which is targeted for all roles in Scrum, this workshop will provide a toolkit for daily work of the new and experienced Scrum masters.

At the end of the workshop the Scrum masters will have a better understanding and tools to deal with:

  • Support self organization and empowerment.
  • Group decision methods and tools
  • Leadership models.
  • Dealing with everyday team conflict.
  • Detecting and dealing with complex team scenarios.
  • Feedback giving and receiving.
  • Facilitating daily meetings.
  • Facilitating retrospectives.

  • What are the roles of the Scrum master?
  • Self organization.
    • Delegation games.
  • Daily dilemmas:
    • Discuss daily dilemmas.
    • Simulations of different Dilemma's of the SM
  • Leadership model - Situational leadership
  • Increasing awareness
    • Feedback giving receiving models.
    • The interaction model.
      • Where can it go wrong? Discussion.
      • How to minimize chances of misunderstanding.
      • Traps and pitfalls
    • Powerful questions.
  • Scrum elements
    • Scrum scenarios simulation:
    • Group decision making.
      • Thumb voting.
      • Decision bar.
      • Dot voting.
    • Daily scrum game
    • Retrospective techniques.
      • The retrospective framework.
      • Data collection techniques
      • Action item creation.

Workshop Length

1 day workshop.

Prerequisites:

This is an intermediate level training and requires basic Scrum knowledge, either by training or experience.

This is a general syllabus and in case of an in-house training, it is possible to make the necessary adjustments to make it more appropriate for your organization’s specific needs.
